Editorial Design
Stress-free, scalable publishing services
I have over three decades’ experience (!!) working within a wide variety of publishing companies in positions that span the editorial–production divide. From 1997 until 2007, I was Editorial Production Manager at BFI Publishing at the British Film Institute. Since then, I have run my own business. During my time as Ketchup Productions I have also had a number of in-house, part-time retainer roles: at Wallflower Press (an independent film/cinema imprint) and Rough Guides (where I was an editor on their Reference list). For some time, I also designed and produced the film journal Film Quarterly for University of California Press. I am currently involved, in and editorial capacity, with a large-scale, definitive online project, for the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) in Brussels.
I am adept at a wide range of publishing functions from overall project and schedule management, through design, layout, artworking, image capture, photo-correction and digital prepress; to copy-editing, proofing and indexing. I am also an experienced print-buyer with good contacts in the UK and overseas printing industries. A ‘Jack of All Trades’ … but – you can trust – a master of each and every stage of the publishing process.
But Ketchup is also about the well-established working relationships I have with an extensive range of talented and committed publishing professionals – writers (from trade journalists, to published book authors), editors, indexers and graphic designers – who can be subcontracted in to work on specific projects, as needed.
Ketchup can be as small (just me), or large (team-based) as you need it to be.
